My focus is to elevate businesses by crafting meaningful visual identities and offering thoughtful design solutions to help you connect with your audience.

Hi, I’m Merel ( /Mih-roll/ ), the creative behind this studio. I’m a freelance designer based in nipaluna/Hobart, Australia. Originally, I’m from the Netherlands where I was born and raised and acquired my Bachelor Degree in Visual Communication before relocating to Australia during a holiday that morphed into real-life.

The things we surround ourselves with evoke emotion and nostalgia. I’m passionate about creating identities, visual narratives, packaging, and digital spaces that help objects to make that connection.

I love the in-between colours that need a small sentence to be described, distinctive type, organic forms, historic references, and a lived-in feel. I gather inspiration from art, nature, places that stayed with me or dream of visiting, how far-away countries implement design.

LITTLE DETAILS

I’m lucky enough to call two delightful little souls my son and daughter.

I love to travel. Don’t do enough of it! Some favorite spots that will always stick with me: Sahara el Beyda (White Desert – pictured), Naoshima, New Zealand (pretty much all of it), Paris (cliché but true).

For much of my twenties, I lived on a yacht cruising along the Australian East Coast. Watching dolphins swim along our boat in bioluminescent water on a windless night is one of my favorite memories.

I’m an ambivert, INFP, Gemini sun · Sagittarius moon · Virgo rising.
Love art/visiting museums, books, the ocean, sushi, new cities, good conversations.
